In the forests of Indonesia, live the Sulawesi Bear Cuscus, or Ailurops Ursinus. Using their elongated claws and tail, they swing through the upper canopy of the rainforest. They are marsupials, and carry their children in a pouch. Their dark hair helps to camouflage them in their surroundings. Thousands of years in the future, the islands of Indonesia may flood and turn into a swampy marsh because of escalating water rising. To adapt to this, the Sulawesi Bear Cuscus features will become more accustomed to swimming. Their claws will get shorter and sharper, and have webbed fingers. Also, their fur will be lighter in color, and become oily like many birds feathers to help become water repellent. In addition, their teeth will become more accustomed to chewing seaweed or small fish. As you can see, in the future, the Sulawesi Bear Cuscus’ adaptations will help them to thrive.
