I predict that the world’s environment will improve in the coming millennium because people will address the environmental issues we face, affecting the evolution of Ruby Throated Hummingbirds in the following ways. With the rise of their predators, hummingbirds will have to adapt to be more aerodynamic, with changes to their beaks and bodies. As flowers grow, hummingbirds will not have to use their beaks as heavily for eating, and their bodies and beaks will become slimmer and sleeker, allowing them to fly faster. Their metabolism will convert food to muscle, which they will use in their tails to steer themselves better. Their colors will become brighter, and their eyes will grow larger to help them identify threats and poisonous or non-poisonous plants. Nest sites will be higher in the rainforest for the most food and protection, and their mating habits will change, with the possibility of mating for life.
