The Scarlet macaw lives in the southern rainforests of Mexico and eastern Peru. Rain forests are known for their lush and diverse ecosystems. However, with climate change much of this has been changed. Rainforests have lost their greenness, therefore the species have adapted to survive in these new conditions. One way the scarlet macaw adapted is the eventual change of their coat. Earlier their feathers were bright and vivid colors. They have evolved to their feathers being entirely a dull reddish-brown color. They have adapted to avoid the natural selection of predators like snakes and monkeys. This dull color allows these birds to camouflage into their habitat.
