Climate change is severely impacting the Amazon Rainforest, especially a species of hummingbird known as the Buff-Thighed Puffleg (Haplophaedia assimilis). As pollution contaminates the air, this petite species finds it increasingly difficult to breathe. The Buff-Thighed Puffleg requires vast amounts of oxygen to fly rapidly. My adaptation increases the oxygen intake of the bird by expanding the size of their nostrils. Furthermore, my adaptation contains no black pigments, as black absorbs more sunlight than any other color. Finally, this evolved hummingbird has permanently ruffled feathers, which allow them to feel a breeze while flying.
