My chosen vertebrate animal living in a tropical rainforest is the jaguar. My first illustration shows the jaguar’s habitat full of forest like shrubs and greenery and a wide stream. There are also lots of prey to hunt like birds, deer, fish, and rabbits. But my second illustration shows the effects of climate change. Over the thousands of years global warming has caused droughts. It has become warmer and drier and less rain. The jaguar’s habitat is now much less forest, water, and prey. The trees and animals need water to survive, but the warmer and drier climate and water shortages have caused their numbers to drop. The jaguar looks thinner in size, and its outer coat is not as shiny as my first illustration because it is not getting the same nutrients from food as before.
