Climate change poses an extreme threat to sloths, a species of neotropical mammals native to northern rainforests. Sloths are also known for their slow movement and ability to cling upside down onto trees. Because of increased heat and drought, it'll become extremely difficult for sloths to survive in the wild. With this, I predict that sloths may develop shorter fur and muted coloration due to scorching heat and scarce drinking water. However, this visual change could be beneficial and could used for camouflage against predators. Additionally, numerous trees will have stunted growth and will collapse due to lack of nutrients; causing sloths to enforced to adapt to their new environment on land. The essential foods sloths consume, such as berries and leaves, will become scarce due to these conditions. However, this can all be avoided if humans prioritize our environment. So remember: sort, save, and sustain to help our planet.
