The Emerald Tree Boa is a magnificent snake that lives in the canopies of the Amazon Rainforest. This snake is a fierce predator that can spend its whole life without ever touching the ground. It has powerful muscles that strangle its prey, infrared vision and heat-sensing pits that conjure a thermal image of its surroundings, and clever green-and-white camouflage that hides it in sun-dappled Amazonian treetops. However, due to climate change, this animal might evolve to become radically different. As deforestation and rising temperatures destroy much of the Emerald Boa's habitat and kill its prey, it will become much smaller to catch smaller animals such as rodents and bugs, providing it with water. The snake will also develop nocturnal tendencies and burrowing habits to escape the scorching sun and keep itself cool. The striking emerald color will become a beige that will blend in with the savanna-like environment.
