The Sulawesi Bear Cuscus has thick fur, elongated claws, and a long tail to hang on trees. It spends its time lazing around in the upper canopy of the Indonesian forest. As its habitat begins to shrink due to climate change, it must adapt. The cuscus will need to learn to share its habitat with other animals. Deforestation will force the cuscus to live on the ground rather than in trees. It will no longer have a use for its tail and claws, so they may become shorter in the future. Its current low-nutrient diet of leaves makes it move slower due to digestion. Therefore, the cuscus may need to become a carnivore, grow sharper teeth, travel alone rather than in small groups, and become smaller to outrun its predators. It may lose its fur due to rising temperatures, and its skin will become yellower to camouflage with its surroundings.
