Maned sloths currently live in coastal rainforests, which will soon become a savanna. Due to the new condition, sloths will start adapting to the arid climate. The maned sloths’ appearance will drastically change. The future sloth will be the savanna sloth, resembling a meerkat, with the front teeth pointed and sharp as well as wider molars in the back of the mouth. Increased muscle mass and metabolism allows the sloth to walk on all fours with a paw-like formation, and can reach speeds up to 40 mph. Sloths can also dig into the ground for protection against the elements and for shelter. They can bite if threatened. The savanna sloth will have beige-colored fur which is smooth, so it can blend in with the grass. Sloths will have larger retinas for clearer vision, with black patches around the eyes for better vision in the foudroyant sunlight.
