The okapi are an endangered species that live in the Ituri Rainforest. The Ituri Rainforest is located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is in Africa. Currently, there is 75 inches of rain per year. Based on current patterns, in 1,000 years, there will be about 1,500 inches per year. If there is that much rainfall in 1,000 years, the okapi will need to adapt. Currently, the okapi has a long skull, large black eyes, and long ears. They are strictly herbivores, and consume 45 to 60 lbs a day. They can also swim very well, which is good because of those 1,500 inches of rainfall per year. But, the Okapi may need to change the color of its fur to absorb less heat. Also, due to so much rain, the Okapi may need to be a little taller to withstand the rain.
