Capybara Evolution

In my first illustration, I put the capybara in a river in the Amazon rainforest as they tend to live in rivers. I chose to give the capybara a rectangular face and a narrower snout because they have rectangular skulls. The background is referencing an image of a river in the Amazon. My idea of the future capybara, I gave the capybara gills, more webbed feet, and lunate tails. I did so because webbed feet make swimming more efficient and easy, lunate tails give more thrust while swimming and would allow for the capybara to swim faster and longer, and I gave them gills so they would be able to breathe underwater in their new habitat. I chose for them to live underwater because climate change causes water to rise, and in the event where there is more water than land, capybaras would have to live underwater at some point.
