Axolotls presently live in freshwater lakes. They have special gills on tentacles to help breathe. The GFP axolotls are adapted to glow in ultraviolet light to protect it from predators. When it glows, predators cannot see its shadow. In the future (3024 AD), the Axolotl’s habitat will be polluted by humans. The axolotl species will have made some adaptations because of this. Most of the Earth will be covered by water with more species, including predators. Adaptations include: 1. Advanced gills that have adapted to filter water pollution. 2. Stronger tails and webbed feet to swim faster and protect them from predators. 3. Better eyesight to adapt to murky waters to spot predators better. 4. The axolotls will no longer need to glow because the murky waters won’t allow shadows.
