Ring tailed lemurs are omnivorous mammals located in Madagascar’s lush rainforest canopies. They use their long lanky limbs and hand like paws to grip the trees as they travel across. Another feature is their iconic “ringed tails” which they use for social activities and to balance as they walk. Climate change has became a threat to this biome making it dryer hotter and more scarce in vegetation. These new conditions will force lemurs to evolve traits used to hunt bugs, while ones focused on plants die. A first mutation will be longer claws to dig and catch insects. As lemurs adapt to living on the ground instead of the trees, they will evolve shorter limbs but still need their tails for balance while leaping. Lemurs will need to eat plenty of animals even ones with tough shells, which is why future Lemurs have sharper teeth.
