Some of the key features of the red bellied piranha include their powerful jaw, strong nose, and notable size of 30.5 cm. In the future, as climate change continues, the earth will get warmer and warmer. This will make water temperatures increase as well. Higher water temperatures mean less oxygen that’s stored in water. To adapt to the oxygen increase they will slowly become smaller. This means they will need less oxygen to function. Since the piranhas are already used to high temperatures up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, they will survive better than other species. This will lead them to become an invasive species. And as a result of overpopulation, they may experience a shortage of food. One way for them to solve this problem is by evolving to include more plants in their diet rather than other animals.
