When the Amazon rainforest heats up due to climate change, the squirrel monkey will have many adaptations to survive in the heat. Bigger ears will increase the heat radiating off their bodies, cooling them down. These monkeys also urinate on themselves, a technique they use to cool down. In the future, with increased temperature, they will this technique more often, resulting in more yellowish fur throughout their body. Due to deforestation, their habit will move to the lower grounds, meaning the threats of snakes require them to run faster. To run faster, a flexible spine will aid them, and a shorter tail will decrease their overall size, making them lighter. They will also develop claws on their fingers, so they can dig for food in the ground as fruits in trees might not be available.
