These elephants are considered the worlds largest land animals. They live in the grasslands of Central Africa rainforest known as the Congo Basin. They have very thick skin in certain spots that is 2.5 cm thick and have sparse hair covering their whole body. These elephants have a wide variety of food around them. Including the items they eat like seeds, fruit and many different types of tree bark like eucalyptus, ebony, wenge and okoum’e. In their climate it stays warm all year round around 68 to 77 degrees fahrenheit. Even when it rains the rain drops are not like they are here. People say that african elephants may be extinct before the next 15 years. But for the Central Africa Rainforest it is said to get more humid and dry like the savaanah. The Congo Basin is over 500 acres and will shrink if deforestation continues.
