The Black Howler Monkey, known for its roaring call echoing through the Amazon rainforest, faces significant challenges due to climate change-induced transformations in its habitat. The upcoming alterations will cause adaptive shifts in their physical traits. They are currently feasting on tree and vine leaves. But, if the Amazon turns to desertification, its diet will be forced to change. Teeth will evolve to sharpen, allowing the monkeys to tear into small rodents and extract water from cacti. The distinction between black-furred males and brown-furred females will fade as all will have a brown coat to blend into the desert landscape. Furthermore, the monkeys will develop smaller Adam's apples to enhance arm movement, resulting in a quieter call. Finally, because they will be less dependent on trees, their tail will be removed. These changes show how the Howler Monkeys will adapt in the future.
