Lemurs face extinction in tropical rainforests due to loss of habitat, lack of food resources, and increased temperatures. The food scarcity will encourage lemur hunting by predators like Fossas and boars, so the lemurs will evolve to be more brownish to camouflage better in the environment. They will have less fur to cope with increased temperatures and to help conserve water. A decreased number of trees and flowers will cause lemurs to change their diets, by integrating insects, smaller reptiles, and frogs to supplement lack of sap, fruits, and leaves for which they would need sharper teeth. Lemurs will grow longer and sharper claws to defend themselves against snakes and other predators. Their tails will become shorter and weaker with reduced use for hanging and swinging. Lemurs will be pushed to their limits by dry forests, making survival challenging in unfavorable environments unless we act now towards conservation.
