The scarlet macaw lives in the tropical rainforests in south and central America. It eats nuts, seeds and berries. The scarlet macaw’s aerodynamic body is adapted specially to rainforests. Studies have shown that the Amazon could become a grassland in a few decades. To make up for habitat loss and to adapt to a drier and hotter place, the macaw will evolve to become smaller, have thinner plumage, and have longer legs. This will reduce body heat and allow it to run around on the ground. It will be brown and gray so that it won’t be easily spotted by predators. Its diet would include beetles and other insects, ergo, its beak would become smaller. It has been proven that birds have evolved and adapted within a century to climate change. So I believe that in a few centuries, the scarlet macaw will evolve into the brown macaw.
