The Emerald Tree Boa has adapted to survive in the Amazon Basin. One adaptation is the scales located above the lip that can heat detect the boa's prey. The boa is nocturnal, so it hunts at night, detecting its prey by heat rather than sight. They have prehensile tails that assist them in navigating the trees as they catch and kill their prey. They have vertical pupils that help them stalk prey at night by making objects at a distance appear sharper. In the future Earth will change, I hypothesize it will dry up. For the Emerald Tree Boa to survive in this drier climate they will have to adapt. I predict they will develop metachrosis, the ability to change skin color. This enables the Boa to camouflage in its drier world. As the rainforest becomes dryer, there will be fewer mammals, the Boa must adapt to eat more lizards.
