The tall, deciduous trees in woods and close to bodies of water are the preferred places for the scarlet macaw to spend its time. They mislead their predators by using all the colors of their feathers, it's how they defend themselves. However, a drought is imminent due to a change in the climate. The trees won't have any water or nutrients when the soil and water dry up, which will lead them to die. The scarlet macaw’s beak will have to change dramatically as a result of having to start eating tiny insects on the ground in place of nuts, berries, and seeds. The scarlet macaw now has no protection if there are no trees or other vegetation for them to blend in with. In order to fit in with the dry climate, they have to adapt, and their feathers turn brown.
