In thousands of years flooding has taken over the rainforest and many habitats for many different species. The sulawesi bear cuscus has changed over the years to adapt to its new environment. Some of those adaptations include webbed feet, changed colors, flatter tail, and can now hold its breath longer for a long period of time. Webbed feet to help it glide better in the water it now lives in instead of claws to hold onto branches. It went from a tannish brown color and changed slowly over the years to camouflage with the water better as a bluish green color. The tail for the sulawesi bear cuscus used to be monkey-like and long wrapped around branches to stay in the air, but now it’s flattened and more beaver-like helped this new bear fly through the water and help it float when on top of the water.
