Harpy Eagles live in the rainforest of South America. Known for their size and sheer power, they’re among the largest and strongest eagles. With their habitat rapidly decreasing in size because of deforestation, Harpies will have to relocate. Since harpy eagles live near or at the base of the Andes, they will be forced out of their territory and pushed up into the mountains. Because the elevation is higher than they currently live, their lungs will expand to combat low oxygen levels. Their wings must also evolve from elliptical wings to passive soaring wings, for catching warm air columns and soaring without working, contributing to their hunting of small rodents. Instead of living in tall trees, they will need to live and build their nests on the rocks. Therefore, their talons will wear down and come to have more of a natural grip.
