Climate change is affecting the Amazon and its animals. Some scientists believe by 2050 the Amazon’s temperatures will increase by 2-3 degrees celsius. This may cause the water cycle to fail. If the water becomes too hot and plants dry out, then it will be deadly for aquatic life and land animals which affects the food chain. The jaguar is one of the animals in the Amazon that will be affected by climate change. Today, jaguars are spotted Amazon cats that live in today’s rainforest. They are solitary creatures with strong limbs which help them to climb and run up to 50 mph making it easier to track and catch their prey. Jaguars in the future will have different adaptations. They will have humps like camels because of food and water shortages, lighter fur because of hotter temperatures, and a longer snout to track its prey from longer distances.
