The Malaysian tiger was once a jungle animal that was swift and stealthy in the trees. Over time, water rises and land animals compete for food, pushing their diet to mainly fish. Due to their diet, they need to be faster in water and breathe underwater for longer periods. Their lungs would need to be bigger and their paws, which were once already equipped with a small amount of webbing, become the more desired trait. Due to the change in environment, their colors become more noticeable to their prey, so the tigers with darker, browner coats were the most successful.
