In my reimagination of the binturongs, their rainforest habitat has been destroyed in favor of human expansion. With fewer trees to climb, the binturong is forced to adapt and stand upright more often with the support of their large, bushy tails. Which they wrap around themselves to keep warm now that they are deprived of the shelter of a tree. They become more active predators/carnivores because their initial diet of fruits and berries have been wiped out. They apply their skills from climbing into their hunting instead. They start making more use of their sharp teeth and claws in order to hunt for prey relying more on rodents and fish for survival. Binturongs were already very vocal beforehand, but instead of their self-defense mechanism of defecating on the animal they feel threatened by, they now simply resort to screaming with their backs hunched and claws out like a cat.
