The toucan we have today is one of many animals in the rainforest. Toucans live in hollowed out trees in the canopy. They eat fruits and insects way up in the branches of trees as well as, frogs, lizards, and bird eggs. After eating, toucans play-fight each other until all the food they ate is digested. After eating they will go back to their nests and rest for the night. Imagine however if toucans lived in a desert covered with cactuses and sand. Toucans would have no choice but to evolve. The future toucan would adapt to be smaller to conserve water. Their beaks would become sharp and straight for hunting mice and insects running around the sand. Their legs would become long and strong for racing in the sandy desert. Their colors would change and become lighter to hide from predators. Toucans will be so different in the future!
