Currently, the brown throated three-toed sloth is mostly gray and it is very lazy and slow, sleeping for the majority of every day. It does not use up very much energy, so therefore it doesn't need to eat much. In the future, the landscape of the Amazon may change dramatically. Because the landscape may become much browner and less green, the sloth might turn a more brownish color. Plants may also become scarce, so the sloth might adapt to this by becoming smaller, so it uses up even less energy. It may also become more muscular and fast, so that it is able to go find food, new shelter, and other resources without getting eaten by a predator because right now the sloth stays in one place partly because it isn't athletic enough to avoid the predators on the rainforest floor.
