Toucans live in the Neotropics, in Southern Mexico, through Central America, and south to northern Argentina. Climate change is an alarming problem for toucans. Habitat loss is the main threat to toucans. Toucans live in a nest which is a hollowed-out tree cavity. Climate change will affect the toucans by burning down their habitat, which leads to fewer trees. Toucans can not fly long distances. Toucans would have to fly further to find nests. Toucans are important for rainforest health and diveristy in their habitats. According to a new study in the "journal science,” the number of toucans have declined in the forest patches. As a result, the palm trees in those areas have responded by producing smaller seeds. Because of the fact that climate change affects trees, it ends up affecting toucans in the process. As trees die off, so do the available habitats for toucans.
