The tapir lives in the coastal rainforest. The coastal rainforest will get submerged under water because of climate change.
The tapir will evolve to adapt to the new environment. First, it will need to change its feet into webbed flippers and its small tail into a wide flat one. It would have to change this way because it has to swim. Next, the tapir’s nose will need to change from a long to a short one. It eats plants, fruits, and berries right now. Its long nose is for grabbing fruits and berries which are mostly up on the trees. Its main diet will become small fish and plants. Finally, the tapir’s fur color will change from brown to blue-gray so it can camouflage in the water.
I think the tapir will change in time for the water to rise up into the coastal rainforest.
