The Scarlet Macaw lives in the canopy and emergent layers of rainforests in South America. Currently, its diet is nuts, leaves, berries, and seeds. It relies on flight for movement and has long tail feathers helping it fly. Interestingly, their colors are a strategy to stay safe and trick predators. The Scarlet Macaw will change in the future because of human settlements taking their homes and litter causing deaths. Another threat is deforestation. Many trees get cut down, making foraging harder. Its beak will adapt to be longer and sharper, improving digging for bugs. With less flight, their claws will get sharper so they can tear things apart and protect themselves. Things could get caught on their tail with more time in the understory and forest floor. Their tail could get injured due to pollution left by humans invading their home. To adapt to threats, the tail would get shorter.
