Capybaras are semi-aquatic mammals that live near lakes and rivers in rainforests worldwide. Their diet includes reeds, grains, plants, melons, and squashes. Droughts, deforestation, fires, and longer dry seasons are threatening rainforests capybaras must adapt. Larger plants would die giving the capybaras less food. Rivers will dry up taking away the capybaras' defense against predetors. Due to those changes, capybaras would likely get smaller in size so that they don't have to use much energy. Their diet would change and also mainly focus on small plants and bugs. Their teeth would flatten to better chew their food, losing their buck teeth. Their long brittle fur will get shorter and thicker to block dirt and sunlight from irritating their skin. They would also lose their webbed feet for flat, long nails for burrowing and defense. This will all help in a dryer environment.
