The roseate spoonbill has a big beak, shaped like a spoon, is light pink in color, and is a very social creature. The spoonbill eats crustaceans out of either fresh or saltwater. The carotene in shrimp gives this bird its pink color. The roseate spoonbill lives in the Amazon rainforest which is humid and warm. It rains 6-10 ft annually and it is the largest forest in the world. 1000 years from now, the Amazon rainforest will have more ponds and swamp-like areas with pollution. The spoonbill will most likely need to find a new food source like plants, so it would need to become a fork-bill. This adaptation would allow it to spear greens and fruits. Because it is no longer eating shrimp, its color would change to a yellow-gray. This would help it blend in with the swamp area and allow it to survive in the new environment.
