My present sloth has gray fur, and long, sharp talons to hang from trees for a long time. It’s a normal sloth hanging from a tree branch, a simple representation of what sloths look like now, but in the future they may look less simple.
If the habitat changes to grassy areas with few trees the sloth will need to adapt. A possible adaptation for the sloth is that it can stand on 2 or 4 legs to see where it’s going above the grass. It will be bigger, have longer legs, and stronger arms. It will become an omnivore with sharper claws and teeth to catch different prey. It would have to be much faster and better at escaping predators. Its fur would be more golden colored like a lion’s for camouflage, and much sharper eyesight to be able to survive in its changed environment.
