The black caiman lives in the rivers and ponds of the Amazon rainforest. To adapt in this wet environment, it has thick, black skin for high salinity water, the darkness of its skin allows it to camouflage at night. In the future, I think the rainforest will be a grassland. My extreme depiction for what I think a black caiman could look like in the future has multiple adaptations to help the new species thrive. One of its adaptations is a hump on its back to store water, another is a pretty scrawny build to minimize weight, and it’s also only 3 to 3 ½ feet tall. To hunt better, it has long hind legs for running, and claws on the front for slicing, to better improve its vision in the new environment, it has natural “eyeshadow” to minimize glare. To improve its hunting as well, it has camouflage skin.
