The turtle happily lives in his present habitat in a pond in the rainforest. He swims during the day and spends most of his time tanning on logs. His skin is light green and yellow, shell is a green brownish color, and his stomach is a red and green mix. His shorter hands allowed him to climb on logs and catch food he needed. However, 10 years later, the turtle’s habitat has drastically changed due to climate change. Rising water levels have submerged the logs and deforestation has left the turtle nowhere to rest. He now has to swim all day long, his skin and shell has darkened, he has grown more webbed arms and legs and the shell around his body has grown larger for more protection. Though he’s adapted to his new environment, the turtle no longer lives the carefree happy life he once did.
