As the climate changes, the jaguarundi's habitat is shifting from dense tropical forests to more open savannas. As a result of this change, the jaguarundi is undergoing a subtle yet significant transformation. Its legs will lengthen allowing it to cover greater distances while scoping out the open grasslands. Its fur will also become lighter in color, to help blend in with the lighter colors of the savanna. Also, its tail will shorten, because there will be less need for balance in the open grassland. These adaptations will allow the jaguarundi to thrive in its new environment.
