The gorilla's traits will change over time as climate change alters the gorilla's natural environment. Gorillas have thick fur for the cooler rain forests and thick muscles for protecting themselves and climbing trees. They also rely heavily on opposable thumbs for gathering food and climbing trees. Over thousands of years of climate change, the rain forests previously housing these gorillas will change into a dry savanna with scarce trees. This will cause the gorilla to have adaptations that help with the new environment. These adaptations include a longer body for grazing, thinner and lighter fur for the hotter environment, longer neck for reaching vegetation near the ground, and thinner muscles because of scarce trees.
