In the tropical rain forest the sloth had long, brown hair for warmth and because of his hair color he was able to hide in the trees. He also had long claws that would help him climb tall trees and protect himself from other animals. In the desert area the adaptations went to short, lighter hair. The shorter hair is because it is very hot in the desert and he wants to stay cool. And the lighter hair is to blend into the sand. His claws are also not as sharp or long because the main focus isn't climbing trees. His claws are now made to dig down in the sand and burrow.
