The adaptations in the first picture was for the anteater to have long snout and tongue with sharp claws to dig and eat ants out of the mounds. He also moved slow to conserve energy because the ants didn't provide much. The picture for the future he had developed a mouth with sharp teeth for eating fish and a beaver like tail for swimming through the water along with webbed feet. He is also able to move a lot quicker because of the fish being high in protein.
