The chimpanzee lives in the tropical mountainous rainforest of Africa. Its adaptations include long fingers and short thumbs to swing from trees, dark brown fur and short fingernails. The biggest threat to the habitat is altered rain falls that will dry out the area making the rainforest become a savanna. Due to the changes in habitat the chimpanzees will have lighter fur to camouflage in the open savanna. Their fingernails will become sharper claws for digging and hunting because the main source of food will become small animals. Their hands will become more like paws to help them run since there will not be enough trees for them to swing from.
