In a hundred years, rainforests will undergo a transformation due to climate change. Many inhabitants like the Northern Tamandua Anteaters will undergo this transformation too. They will slowly adapt without the rainforest in what may be a dry savanna. They may have shorter tongues due to the declining ant population and instead focus on termites eating the remaining wood. If termites move on to different environments, Northern Tamanduas will resort to other foods like shrubs and nuts. Due to the savanna’s lack of trees, they won’t need tails because they are used to balance on trees. They may adapt to preserve water similar to camels or grow to be smaller so the need for water is significantly less in the dry environment. Unlike rainforests, there may be little hiding spots for Northern Tamanduas to hide from predators. So they may change their fur color to a light brown as camouflage.
