The rainforest animal I chose was an Okapi. Okapis are located in the Ituri rainforest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Okapis have dark brown fur on the top half of their body and Zebra-like fur on the bottom half. Okapis eat leaves, fruits, grasses and some species of fungi. They also eat a reddish clay that provides essential salt and minerals. Okapis usually live by themselves.
In the future, Okapis live in a savanna. They have a slightly longer neck to be able to reach some of the trees. Okapis have lighter fur to be able to blend in with its environment. They have more muscles in their legs to be able to run from predators. Okapis would also have better hearing to be able to be more aware of predators. Instead of living alone, Okapis would stay with a herd to protect themselves from predators.
