Crimson Sapphire hummingbird

The Crimson Topaz Hummingbird is a type of hummingbird that lives in the rainforest, which is full of flowering plants which provide nectar for the hummingbirds to eat. Hummingbirds are the only birds that can hover and fly upside down or backwards. They vary their metabolism and heart rates from hyperactivity, enough to go from 80 wingbeats per second to torpor, conserving energy when not moving. The males set up feeding territories, which they protect by scaring off intruders with their colorful feathers. In the future, their habitat will become a savanna, and they will become the Crimson Sapphire Hummingbird. They will have different colors, the males to stand out and the females to camouflage. They will nest in trees and shrubs, and use their tails to stir insects from grass for them to eat. They will eat mainly insects because there are not enough flowers to provide food.
