The Scarlet Macaw is a vertebrate living in inland forests today. In my drawing, the Macaw is shown with bright, colorful feathers. Their color comes from the pigment of wild berries they eat, also shown. The Scarlet Macaw also relies on woodpeckers to carve the holes in some trees for the eggs. A strong beak is needed to crack seeds open. As for predators, monkeys are the most common. In the future, the forest will become a savanna, with less trees. Instead of shielding eggs in trees, the nest will be made out of leaves and stored on top of a large cactus. There are no berries, so the Scarlet Macaw becomes the Opaque Bird. The beak will be stronger for food purposes. Monkeys are gone, so snakes become predators. The bird’s call is louder because of the open space. The Scarlet Macaw will adapt, but is it for good?
