My animal is the hummingbird. Currently, they live in the emergent layer of the rainforest, the highest part. Their diet consists of small insects, aphids, gnats, mosquitoes, wasps and the nectar from flowers. Hummingbirds have long beaks to get nectar from flowers. They are normally bronze, copper, brown, red, green, purple, gray and blue. They have the ability to slow down their heart rate and go into a hibernation-like state to save energy.
In the future, burrowing hummingbirds will live in shrublands in burrows that they make below the shrubs. They stay there most of the time and only leave to hunt and get food. Their diet will consist of the same things that they eat today. They will be brown and green so they can camouflage with the dirt and leaves. They will be able to digest microplastics so they don't die when they consume them in the wild.
