My animals are axolotls, salamanders that live in Lake Xochimilco, Mexico. They are greyish brown to blend into the soil streambed and hide from predators. They have webbed feet to swim and gills that allow them to breathe underwater. They eat small crustaceans and earthworms by sucking up them like a vacuum because that is most efficient. They can regenerate their hearts and limbs if they come off.
In the future, they’ll be called brown gilled runners because their legs will be longer to run faster. Their habitat will turn into a shrubland, so they will need to have thicker skin as eggs to protect them from new predators. This means that the water in summer will dry up, so they’ll need larger lungs for more oxygen intake. They will have raised and better quality eyes to see farther. Their tongues will become long and sticky to catch fast prey.
