For the Future Creatures project, I chose the Amazon river dolphin. These dolphins are adapted to the warm waters of the Amazon river, filled with small creatures on the river bottom. The Amazon river dolphin has a long beak to grasp the small prey at the river bottom, as well as thinner blubber due to the warm temperatures. The river dolphin has a longer dorsal fin because they don’t swim quickly. The Amazon river dolphin lives in the freshwater rivers of South America. In the future, the Amazon river dolphin may move to the Atlantic Ocean, as the Amazon river may become a dry savanna. The river dolphin will have to adapt to life in the ocean through genetic mutation, likely getting thicker blubber due to temperature drops, a taller dorsal fin, and shorter beaks, as they do not need to grasp small creatures at the ocean floor.
