In the future, the poison dart frog will look very different due to climate change. As temperatures rise and rainforests turn into savannas or wetlands, the frog’s skin will change colors to blend in with the new environment. Its bright colors will fade to shades of brown, yellow, and green to match the grass and shrubs. The frog’s legs may become longer and stronger so it can jump further across the open landscape. It may also grow more powerful toxins to protect itself from predators. Since the frog’s food sources are changing, it may start eating different insects like grasshoppers and beetles that live in the grasslands. The frog’s habitat will be much drier, with fewer trees and more open space, but its adaptations will help it survive in this new world.
