The Common Squirrel Monkey currently lives in a coastal rainforest, which in the future will become a marsh/wetland. The animal's body will evolve due to the effects of climate change. The tree filled forest will now have water covering much of the ground due to flooding. The monkey must be able to adapt to the climate change through physical adjustments. The future common squirrel monkey will now be the marsh monkey whose short coat of fur has changed into a waterproof coat. This will protect the animal from the wet conditions. The marsh monkey's legs that were once bright yellow will now turn to a tinted green color from the algae that it is exposed to in the water. In addition, the long tail that was once used for balance will be wider to help them swim. Finally, their bodies will be leaner due to their new fish diet.
